EeeCtl is a Windows utility that lets you dig into advanced controls of the Eee PC. The main features boasted by the EeeCtrl website are:
Processor speed can now be adjusted. The processor can be set to run at 630MHz, 765MHz, or 900MHz, despite the Eee PC running at 630MHz out of the box. Yeah, it’s underclocked by Asus.
Easily the best feature is the fan control settings. In my experiences when the fan is running at full blast it sounds like an airplane. EeeCtl gives you two options: adjusting your fan speed manually or automatic setting, which in theory will give you a fluctuating speed based on the heat sensor. You can also see the current temperature that your Eee is running at with this utility.
EeeCtrl also gives you the ability to make your screen really bright. Sure, this would be a huge drain on your battery, but at least you could be able to see everything if you have trouble with the default max brightness available.
To achieve a higher resolution on the Eee PC there is a simple way to do it. Visit and run the script which contains some code that will allow your Eee PC to run at a higher resolution.
Don’t worry
This script is 100% virus free, and working. No warranty’s will be void and the script is completely reversible. This is probably one of the best things I’ve ever done to my Eee PC, besides buying an awesome case.
Definitely recommended.
Lots of people are using their Eee PC at 100% brightness. This is not a good idea if you’re running off battery. Not many people know that screen brightness is one of the main battery drains on a laptop.![]()
The best level of brightness
With 40% brightness you will get 3 hours battery life out of your Eee PC with low-normal usage. This is probably the best brightness level for sitting in a well lit coffee shop or any other nicely lit place.
A 30% brightness will get you about 3.5 hours, but some find this brightness level much too dim. If you are sitting in a poorly-lit room this brightness level may inhibit your ability to do work on your computer.
The Eee PC uses LED technology
This is a great thing. The LED technology in the Eee PC allows it to not be as much of a battery drain. This means that the Eee PC should have much better battery life than the average notebook that doesn’t support LED technology in the monitor.
I just finished writing about the differences between the Asus Eee PC models, but which is right one to get? It all depends on what you’re planning on doing with your brand new Eee PC. I’m going to assume that the Eee PC is not going to be your main computer - as it probably wouldn’t be a great idea to have such a small laptop as a main computer. The Eee PC is better suited as a desktop or ever a laptop alternative.
There are four main uses that an Eee PC has:
Music and photos
The first use is music and photos. Maybe you just want to hang out on the couch or in your bed and listen to some music while you browse the web before you fall asleep. Maybe you want to check out the latest photos you took and do some organizing. The Eee PC is a great tool for this, with its light weight and small size.
Other Multimedia
Other multimedia is its own category because it will require some more space. For those who like to watch TV or movies the Eee PC is great because of its small size and easy portability. The problem for some may be the small storage space.
Word processing
Another huge use of the Eee PC that is being seen is word processing. Whether you’re blogging, typing up a report, or working on a spreadsheet, the Eee PC is easily portable for you to take on transit, or just pull out while having lunch.
Communication
The Eee PC’s small size, webcam, and wireless internet access makes communicating with others perfect. Pull it out at the coffee shop, at school, or even at home to be instantly connected to your friends and family.
So that’s it! Get the Eee PC that suits you best. There are over 350 Eee PC’s in stock in the store right now, so go and check it out.
There are 4 different types of Eee PC’s, which is right for you?

All Eee PC’s come with 512MB of ram, but this is, of course, upgradeable. The Asus Eee PC Store often has Eee PC’s in stock that have upgraded RAM, which will make your applications run faster - see upgraded 1GB RAM and 2GB RAM.
